Barrier substrate, PTFE (80%) and PU (20%)

31.1

Description

Polyurethane and PTFE- composition of a bi-component barrier base material, 80% PTFE (base) and 20% PU (coating or laminate). The barrier can be a bi-component laminate or a bi-component coating. The membrane (base) is first extruded, and then a coating or laminate is applied to top. See description of "Polyurethane (PU) resin, fossil fuel based" and "Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plastic, fossil fuel based" for additional information about the individual components.

Modeling Notes

Based on expert interviews with SAC membership and ecoinvent background data. Includes 10% loss of raw material to account for yield losses. Also includes 1000km inbound shipping distance to account for shipment of raw materials.
